2018 marks 100 years since the introduction of Representation of the People Act, which saw women given the ability, by law, to vote. It broke the ceiling which allowed women to have a say. 100 years later, we are still facing boundaries but we believe 2017 was the tipping point and that 2018 will truly be the Year of Women. Here are 10 empowering quotes to get us started:
1. Maya Angelou
You may encounter many defeats,
but you must not be defeated.
In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats,
so you can know who you are,
what you can rise from,
how you can still come out of it.
2. Oprah Winfrey

3. Sophia Amoruso

4. Thandie Newton

8. Reese Witherspoon
All those things that you’re worried about are not important. You’re going to be OK. Better than OK. You’re going to be great. Spend less time tearing yourself apart, worrying if you’re good enough. You are good enough. And you’re going to meet amazing people in your life who will help you and love you.
9. Billie Jean King
Don't let anyone define you. You define yourself.
10. Yi So-yeon
I did my best to follow my dreams and follow my passion, and that made me an astronaut.
